For women particularly, Valentine’s Day is an exciting holiday to spend with the person you love. If we go with the old idea that "it’s the thought that counts" then there’s no need to stress over this holiday anymore. You can still have a romantic day, without spending any more than $20. We’ll show you how…
* Make Dinner: Staying on a budget is extremely important these days. And for many of us, that means no more eating out. So, cook a nice dinner by brainstorming and preparing beforehand. Map out exactly how much time you need, and invest in some candles to help out with the ambiance.
* Draw your Own Card: This doesn’t mean just whip out a pen and piece of paper – you should really invest yourself for about an hour into the designing and creation of the Valentine’s card. By using stickers, construction paper, and thoughts from the heart, you can make the design sweet and inexpensive.
* Flowers: Instead of spending an arm and a leg on a store-bought bouquet, take your leading lady for a walk. While you’re out, pick her a flower and gently put it in her hair. Not only will she be touched, but she’ll enjoy the time spent just strolling the outdoors.
* Chocolates Covered Strawberries: Don’t go out and buy a big box of chocolates; instead, head to the store and get blocks of white, milk or dark chocolate (depending on her preference), along with a box of strawberries. While you’re eating dinner, have the chocolate melting in a pot on the stove. Not only will it be a fun activity for the two of you, she’ll appreciate the sweet treat. You can’t go wrong with chocolate covered strawberries!
* Home-made Gift: Now, this is the creative part. Head to your local crafts store and leave yourself plenty of time for browsing. Check out the various departments within the store until you can decide on what you’re going to make her. There are endless opportunities available if you open up your mind. You can take old photos and make a collage; or get a glass jar filled with small pieces of paper saying 100 reasons why you love them; or even design your own T-shirt expressing your profound love. If you’re having trouble, ask the employees at the crafts store for some advice!
If you follow these easy steps, we’re sure you’ll have a successful and romantic evening. We’d love to hear any ideas that you came up with, as well! We hope you have a safe, happy, loving and INEXPENSIVE Valentine’s day this year!
